The camera scanner uses the browser's own barcode detector. Where that is missing the wallet says so and you paste the address instead — everything else works.

What the APK is, plainly

It is a wallet app that opens doge.hankelsner.tech. That is the honest description, and it is the whole description.

  1. Same wallet. The app does not carry a second copy of the wallet with different rules. It opens this site, so the app and the browser run the identical code, the identical fee options and the identical coin-selection guards.
  2. Same keys, stored on your device. The app keeps its own storage, exactly the way a browser tab does. Your key never travels to us in either one.
  3. An app icon and a camera. The two things a browser tab cannot give you: a launcher icon, and the camera permission the QR scanner needs.
  4. It is only the wallet. The collections, the inscribers, the protocol pages, the projects browser — those live on this site. The app can reach them, because the app is pointed at this site, but the app itself is not the hub.

The short version of app versus site

The app is just the wallet. The site is the wallet and everything else. Nothing you do in one is missing from the other, because they are the same wallet on the same address.

The app's own splash colour is dark, so on a light theme you may see a brief dark flash while the site loads. Cosmetic only — the theme you picked is applied before anything is drawn.

Install on Android

Sideload · not a Play Store listing

This APK is not distributed through the Play Store. You download the file and install it yourself, which Android calls installing from an unknown source.

  1. Allow your browser to install apps. Android → Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps → pick the browser you are downloading with → allow. The exact wording moves around between Android versions; the setting is always attached to the app doing the downloading, not to the file.
  2. Download the APK. Use the button above, or open download.hankelsner.tech and take it from the Hanks Wallet card.
  3. Open the downloaded file and confirm. Android will warn you about installing from outside the store. That warning is expected for any sideloaded app.
  4. Open it and create or import a wallet. Same two doors as the browser: generate a new 12-word phrase, or import one you already have.

No iOS build exists. On an iPhone, an iPad, a laptop or a desktop, use the browser version — it is the same wallet with the same phrase.

Import an existing wallet

There is nothing to migrate. The app and the browser are the same wallet code, so the same secret opens the same address in both.

A 12-word phrase

A standard BIP39 phrase, with an optional extra passphrase if your original wallet used one. It is checked in your browser before it is used, and the field is cleared the moment the import completes.

A private key

A raw Dogecoin WIF key works too. Same handling: used locally, field cleared straight after.

This wallet uses one address. Change comes back to the same address, and there is no address rotation and no second account. If your other wallet used a different derivation path, the phrase will open a different address here than it does there.

Custody, stated once

Non-custodial means something specific here, so here is exactly what happens and exactly what cannot happen.

What leaves your device

  • Signed transaction hex — and only after you tick the confirmation box on the review screen.
  • Your public address, when the wallet asks the chain for your balance, coins and history.

That is the list. No seed, no phrase, no private key, ever.

What this site cannot do

  • It has no key of yours, so it cannot move, freeze or recover your coins.
  • There is no account and no password on this site, so there is nothing to reset.
  • There is no recovery. Lose the 12-word phrase and the coins are gone — by us, by you, by anyone.
Write the phrase down before you fund it. The phrase is shown once when you create the wallet and is never stored anywhere afterwards. An unlocked wallet keeps only the signing key, in that tab or app session, and it is not encrypted at rest — so lock the wallet when you are done on a shared device.

Two more honest limits worth knowing before you install: there is no fee bump and no replace-by-fee, so a slow transaction cannot be sped up from the wallet; and chain data is read live rather than cached, so the wallet needs this box reachable to show balances, thumbnails and history at all.

The wallet's whole crypto stack — phrase generation, key derivation, signing, address encoding, raw transaction building — is written out in the open and runs in your browser. You can read it.
